Soft JawsFAQs
We’ve answered some of the most common questions.
If your question is not covered, please get in touch.
Dimac supports Kitagawa, Bison, TDG, SMW Autoblock and MMK. Other chuck brands such as Samchully are compatible with Kitagawa patterns
Dimac soft jaws are available in four serration types:
- Metric 1.5 mm × 60°
- Metric 3.0 mm × 60°
- Imperial 1/16″ × 90°
- Imperial 3/32″ × 90°
The serration must match correctly to maintain clamping force and concentricity.
Soft jaws must match the chuck’s serration type, slot width and centre hole distance (CHD). If you are unsure which model is required, provide the chuck make and model so Dimac can confirm compatibility and recommend the most suitable soft jaws for your application.
1045 carbon steel is the standard choice for general machining. 6061 aluminium is better suited to softer or finished parts where marking must be avoided.
Yes. Dimac can modify standard soft jaws to suit specific applications, including pointing, rough boring, reduced size, additional mounting bores, weight reduction and flame hardening.
If a standard product is not suitable, Dimac can assist with a custom soft jaw solution, simply get in touch with our team.
