Renishaw probes can be used on lathes for tool setting on X, Y & Z
directions and tool breakage detection applications to ensure that tools
are still intact after machining.
Typically tool setting probes
cannot remain inside the machine frame of a lathe when not in use
however Renishaw has developed a range of tool setting arms which allow a
probe to be placed near the tool only when its needed.
lathe tool setting systems allow manual operation suitable where tool
set-ups are infrequent and fully automatic operation, for frequent batch
changeovers or when in-process tool breakage detection is required.
Manual arms can be removed by hand, whilst automatic arms can be
actuated by program commands.
